I read the news and know that the educational insitution in Taiwan will
try to standardize the spelling systems of Taiwanese languages by the end of
this year. Please refer to



This will be an extremely important issue, because the future common users
in population will decide which spelling system the language researchers are
using will preserve. I got the sense that this standard spelling system
probably will adopt romanization based on English pronunciation, because the
6th graders will need to learn English according to the new curriculum plan.
So the standard one won't be too much like the current church Latin
romanization, either. However, if the new system can be more easily accepted
by the population in Taiwan who use English as the second language, I am
willing to adopt it, too.

The other direction is to use the existing Chinese spelling phonetics with
elaboration / modification. This will be awkward to the non-mandarine
speakers. But, for expedience, I guess the lazy educators are very likely
to take it.

Can anyone there involving in this educational planning provide more
information?
